Turmeric Bagel Holes


I found this recipe in Women's Health and these Bagels are delicious! I'm thinking that you can probably experiment and add in some other flavors or maybe put a vegetable in the center.


1 cup whole-milk cottage cheese ( great source of calcium, packed with phosphorus, vitamin B12 and protein )


1 cup self-rising flour, plus more for dusting ( if you don't have self-rising flour just add 1 + 1/2 tsp baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon fine salt for every cup )


1/2 tsp ground turmeric


2 tsp white sesame seeds


2 tsp black sesame seeds


1 large egg, beaten


  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking seet with parchment paper.

  2. In a food processor, blend cottage cheese until smooth. Transfer to a large bowl and mix in flour and turmeric until a dough starts to form. Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth; 2 to 3 min., sprinkling in more flour as necessary if the dough is sticky.

  3. Roll the dough into 1 1/4 inch balls and space 2 inches apart on the prepared sheet. In a small bowl, combine white and black sesame seeds. Brush the tops of bagel holes with egg, then sprinkle with sesame seeds.

  4. Bake until golden brown, rotating the pan halfway through, about 35 min.
